Estrid are a brand I have seen literally aaaaall over Instagram, Tik Tok – EVERYWHERE. I was skeptical at first, as per, welcome to my brain but after buying yet another packet of crappy disposable razors off Amazon I thought bugger it and ordered the fittest razor I have ever owned in my life. Estrid are a subscription service delivering quality, vegan and cruelty-free shaving products right to your doorstep, so I feel like I’m doing the world a service by owning the cutest razor ever now.
The razors are high quality, with no gender-based discriminatory pricing to give you the closest shave possible. No animal products or byproducts are used and any products that are tested are tested on humans, not on animals. Most razor brands use some kind of animal byproduct on the soothing strips, (which I something I learnt from their website and ngl, it kinda grossed me out) but Estrid doesn’t. They use natural ingredients including aloe vera, shea butter and cocoa butter making the brand not only better for our skin but also better for the planet. Winner.
One of the strong messages Estrid stand by is that no matter your identity or reasons why you choose to shave you should never have to pay more for a quality shaving product. Gender tax is something I’m sure the majority of us are unfortunately aware of and I know a lot of us, myself included, chose razors targeted at men prior to finding Estrid because the “pink tax” meant women’s razors were not only not as good as men’s razors but the price was whacked sky high in comparison but that’s a topic for another day.
“Hair removal should be optional. Great hair removal shouldn’t”
– Estrid
The razors feature a steel handle which feels incredible (and a bit boujie) in your hand making for a real luxury feel right from the very start.
What does the starter kit include?
+ steel razor handle
+ wall mount
+ 2x razor blades
They come in various shades:
Matcha – a pretty, light green shade inspired by matcha lattes and freshly cut flowers
Bloom – a 90s baby pink shade described as cute, cool and confident
Cloud – a neutral light grey shade inspired by pillowy clouds on a rainy day
Space – (my personal fave) an intergalactic purple shade
Peach – a bright pastel orange inspired by freshly picked fruit and summer sunsets
Lemonade – a bright ever so pastel yellow which is beautifully sunny
Another thing I particularly love about Estrid is that somehow, while they are a company selling razors they don’t shove shaving in your face. We’ve all seen the regular shaving adverts that low key body shame anyone whose skin isn’t as soft as a wet seals but Estrid don’t care if you want your bits to be hairy and I’m here for it.
